The Dastkari Haat Craft Bazaar is set to return to Pune for its 11th year, bringing with it a vibrant confluence of art, culture and craftsmanship. Organised by the Dastkari Haat Samiti (DHS), the ten-day event will be held at Kalagram, P.L. Deshpande Garden, next to Pune–Okayama Friendship Garden on Sinhagad Road, from October 30 to November 9.
The bazaar will be open daily from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, offering visitors an opportunity to explore India’s living traditions through art, craft, and community. Known for reviving and celebrating traditional craftsmanship, it will feature artisans from across the country, each representing a unique regional art form.
The craft Bazaar will also feature food stalls offering a variety of traditional cuisines from Rajasthan and Delhi throughout the event. Live demonstration sessions scheduled from November 1 to 7, will have master artisans showcasing their skills and creative processes. Each session, scheduled from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm invites visitors to learn about the symbolism, techniques, and stories behind each form of craft.
Speaking about the event, Jaya Jaitly, Founder of Dastkari Haat Samiti, said, “We are proud and honoured to be part of this wonderful new creative platform for art, craft and culture established by the Pune Municipal Corporation. After holding crafts events annually in Pune for 11 years, Kalagram will be a true and permanent home for our cultural practitioners. Artists flourish in such embracing environments and our Dastkari Haat will present the very best of India’s traditional skills as always.”
Founded in 1986, the Dastkari Haat Samiti has spent nearly four decades promoting Indian artisanship and empowering craftspeople through cultural exchange and innovation. The Samiti has played a key role in bringing traditional crafts into contemporary spaces while ensuring the preservation of India’s diverse artistic heritage.
Commenting on the event, Tirtha Misal, an artist, said, “Kalagram was created keeping in mind the rich cultural background of our city and country and fostering something remarkable together. We are delighted for Dastkari Haat Samiti, the creators of Dilli Haat to be the one taking the lead and initiating this beautiful journey ahead.”
With over 120 stalls, live workshops, and an array of handcrafted goods, from textiles and pottery to jewelry and folk art, the Dastkari Haat Craft Bazaar at Kalagram promises a sensory and cultural experience that celebrates the best of India’s artistry. For art enthusiasts, culture lovers, and families alike, the event offers not just shopping, but storytelling a journey through colors, textures, and the spirit of India’s handmade legacy.
