The Suryadatta Education Foundation conferred the Veerata Puraskar 2012 on MS Bitta, chairman of the All India Anti-Terrorist Front,at the Suryadatta Institute of Management,Bavdhan,on Saturday.
Bitta spoke on patriotism, ways to fight terrorism and the role youngsters play in curbing corruption. When places like Mumbai and Pune are attacked by terrorists, the country is paralysed. Being the education hub and the business capital of the nation, the attack on these cities numbs the functioning of the entire country, said Bitta,a Punjab native also known as Zinda Shahid.
Bitta was all praise for todays youngsters and their efforts to connect to the countrys rich heritage in spite of keeping pace with the modern ways of living. The youth needs to fight corruption by staying within the boundaries of law and order, he added.
Commenting on the prevalent corruption in the country,Bitta said,The political leaders are ruining the sacrifice of our freedom fighters. The lack of political will to fight terrorism is the major obstacle. It surprises me to think how the law has not hanged Ajmal Kasab yet.
Bitta had survived several terror attacks including two major blasts and an ambush which targeted him in the 1990s for his anti-Khalistan barbs. The institute also felicitated the widows of martyrs who lost their lives fighting several wars post Independence. Linata Tathwade,Laxmibai Dighe,Savita Barkul,Rajeshwari Rane and Vaishali Gole were honoured with educational scholarships for their children.
