Girl raped,forced into prostitution,man and his wife booked

The Pune police have booked a woman,her husband and two others for allegedly raping a girl and forcing her into prostitution.

The Pune police have booked a woman,her husband and two others for allegedly raping a girl and forcing her into prostitution.

The 28-year-old victim has lodged a complaint at Vishrantwadi police station. Police have booked Rani Shaikh,her husband Iqbal Shaikh,both residents of Savtamali Colony in Dhudulgaon,and Rani’s friends Varshan Rahul Gadeskar and Archana under Sections 376,323,34 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).

Police said Rani allegedly offered a job to the victim and brought her to her house in February this year.

She allegedly forced the victim to have a physical relationship with her husband Iqbal. The woman alleged that she even got pregnant,they added.

Following this,Rani and Iqbal allegedly asked her to earn money for them by forcing her into prostitution. Later,Rani’s friends Varsha and Archana forced her to marry a mentally ill man.

Police said the woman lodged a complaint with the help of an NGO. Police Inspector Pandurang Gofane is investigating the case. “Investigation is on. More details cannot be shared at this stage,” said Gofane.
