A domestic LPG cylinder in a food cart outside the Swargate bus depot in Pune caught fire early on Friday, gutting the cart. No casualties were reported.

The Pune Fire Brigade control room received a call at 2.46 am about a fire spotted at a fast-food cart outside Swargate bus depot. A fire tender and water tanker were pressed into service and the fire was extinguished.

“We reached the spot within three minutes. We saw a domestic LPG cylinder in the hand cart had caught fire. We suspect the fire was caused due to leakage of LPG from the cylinder. We brought the situation under control quickly. Nobody was injured in the incident,” Fire Officer P R Khedekar said.

Khedekar pointed out that the commercial LPG cylinder was not used by the person running the food cart.
