The annual festival of literature and music — Jashn-E-Sukhan — will be held from October 10 to 13. Sukhan is a three-hour-long mehfil (soirée) with a short interval, which focusses on Urdu literature, Hindustani classical music and Sufi music. Besides, it also includes performances such as Daastaan-goi (storytelling), recitation of ghazals and nazams, prose and musical renditions.

The unique aspect of the show is that the content chosen for the performance varies from time to time. It is chosen from a the vast treasure of Urdu literature and shayari by Hafiz Jalandhari, Saahir Ludhiyanavi, Joan Eliya, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Mirza Ghalib, Ameer Khusrow, Meer Taqi Meer, Mujtaba Hussain, Dagh Dehlavi, Muhommad Iqbal, Nida Fazli, among others.

Sukhan also belongs to an informal genre of performance, as there is a constant interaction and dialogue between the audience and artists.  Sukhan has been performed in Ringan, an initiative by Aasakta Theatre Group, and Muktachhanda, an initiative by Fergusson College, Pune. The performances have been a part of some prestigious festivals, such as Vinod and Sarayu Doshi National Theatre Festival in February 2016 and a show at Pune Natya Sattak in 2016.

The festival will start from October 10 to 12, at Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha, Hirabaug, at 7.30 pm and October 13 at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha at 9.30 pm. The show is compiled and directed by Om Bhutkar, and managed and co-produced by Wide Wings Media.
