Andromeda Call Centre general manager Pankaj Jayant Pathake had dismissed Kadam from service a few days ago,following which Kadam hatched a plot to kidnap Pathake
The Wanavdi police on Saturday arrested 24-year-old Rajesh Kadam of Hadapsar for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to kidnap the general manager of the Andromeda Call Centre in Wanavdi.
Police said that Kadam was working with the same call centre. The general manager Pankaj Jayant Pathake of Dhankwadi,had dismissed Kadam from service a few days ago. Following this,he hatched a conspiracy to kidnap Pathake. Police arrested Kadam along with his three accomplices including Prafulla Ghadge (24) of Hadapsar,also an employee of the call centre.
Investigating officer,sub inspector Prasad Sanas said that as per the instruction of Kadam,his friend Ghadge and two others,Vijay Kadam (24) and Anthony Francis (19),kidnapped Pathake in a car when he stepped out of the office at around 9 pm.
They took Pathake to Saswad road. Here,one more person got into the car. Pointing swords at Pathake,they demanded Rs 2.5 lakh from him. Pathake refused to pay the money. So they tortured Pathake in the car and snatched his cell phones and wallet. Later they let him off saying Rajesh Kadam has given the money for his release, said Sanas.
Pathake could not believe that Kadam,whom he was dismissed from service,would pay the money. So he lodged the complaint with the Wanavdi police station on Friday. Police then detained Kadam and Ghadge for interrogation.
During sustained interrogation,Kadam confessed of having hatched the conspiracy to kidnap Patahke. Kadam was angry with Pathake as he had removed him from job, said Sanas.
We have so far arrested four persons in this case. Search is on for two more accomplices, he said,adding that the car used for the kidnapping as well as Pathakaes cellphones and wallet have been recovered.
