The Pune Police, in yet another case of a dummy candidate appearing for a recruitment exam, Monday arrested an Uttar Pradesh native who assigned another person to take his written examination for a ‘Group C’ position at the Border Road Organisation (BRO) School and Centre on January 30, officials said.

The police have identified the arrested as Anirjay Yadav, 21, a resident of Ferozabad. Senior police inspector Dattatraya Bhapkar confirmed that a search is on for the youngster who appeared in Yadav’s place.

A First Information Report in the case has been registered at the Vishrantwadi police station on Monday by an administration officer at the BRO School and Centre in Pune, under the Ministry of Defence.

The authorities supervising the exam process at the BRO School and Centre conducted the verification of all the candidates appearing for the examination that included scrutiny of their exam entry cards, photo proofs and the candidates themselves. The authorities found that a dummy candidate had appeared in place of Anirjay Yadav.

This is the third such case that has been detected since March this year.

Last month, the police arrested two people from UP and one from Haryana in connection with detecting dummy candidates during a written examination conducted for the post of ‘Multi Skilled Worker and Driller’ at BRO School and Centre.

Also, in March, police arrested two people, one of whom was sitting as a dummy candidate in place of the other, in a written examination for the post of ‘Cook’ at the GREF Centre Border Roads Organisation of the Ministry of Defence.
