Dr Anurag Bhargava and Dr Madhavi Bhargava win KV Desikan Memorial Award for work on malnutrition and public health

The prestigious K V Desikan Memorial Award for this year was presented to Dr Anurag Bhargava and Dr Madhavi Bhargava and the Bombay Leprosy Project.

Dr Anurag Bhargava and Dr Madhavi Bhargava were awarded for their distinctive and dedicated work in the area of malnutrition, tuberculosis and public health.

The doctors co-lead the Centre for Nutrition Studies at Yenepoya (deemed to be university) in Mangalore, and before that, worked for 10 years at Jan Swasthya Sahyog (JSS) in rural Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.

The Bombay Leprosy Project was awarded the K.V. Desikan Memorial Award for the year 2024 for its extraordinary body of work in the area control, treatment and rehabilitation of people with Hansen’s disease (leprosy).
