The Maharashtra Congress on Sunday accused the Mahayuti and Modi Government of trying to polarise voters in the name of “batenge katenge” and “vote jihad”.
“Despite the fact that the BJP has been in the government both at the Centre and in the state for 10 years, it is trying to drag a modern India into the terrain of religious polarisation by raking up isssues of ‘vote jihad’ and ‘batenge katenge’,” said Congress spokesperson Gopal Tiwari.
The Congress said the BJP was seeking to divide the people of the country because it knows it has failed on all fronts. “Religious polarisation is top of its agenda. The BJP has failed to push the development of the country. Prices are rising, farmers are dying, unemployment is soaring, social harmony is at stake, corruption is at its peak and women are feeling insecure. In a bid to hide its failure, it is resorting to polarising the people,” Tiwari said in a release.
Tiwari said a survey report had revealed that BJP will lose in Maharashtra. “And therefore it did not allow Election Commisison to hold elections in four states at one time,” Tiwari said.
