Chief secy assures funds for hospitals

State Chief Secretary J P Dange has assured required funds for hospitals treating the German Bakery blast victims.

As Saturday saw two more injured succumb,taking the toll to 13,Dange held a review meeting in Pune. Dange said he would ensure there is no shortage of funds for treatment of the victims. “All hospitals treating the victims will be provided the necessary funds and equipment,” he said.

Dange said the revenue officers were already distributing the compensation amount announced by the government — Rs 5 lakh for the deceased,Rs 50,000 for the injured and Rs 5,000 for those who sustained minor injuries and were discharged immediately after treatment on the first day. Those who succumbed to injuries later were given Rs 25,000 towards the last rites conducted outside Pune and Rs 5,000 for last rites in Pune. A total of Rs 27 lakh has been disbursed as compensation so far and the remaining will be disbursed soon.

“The revenue officers have already disbursed the compensation amount. We have ensured speedy disbursement of funds and have also tocld the hospitals to come forward if they need any equipment for treatments,” he said.

At the review meeting of law and order in the city,Dange said that there is a need to expedite investigations. Asked about the shortage of police staff,he said the department was doing their best with available staff. “The district administration on their part will cooperate fully,” he said.

Dange also reviewed issues pertaining to employment,agriculture and development of Dehu-Alandi.
