Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal Monday responded to Sharad Pawar’s statement that he failed in assessing the “true nature” of Bhujbal. The Maratha strongman in his recent Yeola rally had claimed that he had asked Bhujbal to go and check what was happening the day the Ajit Pawar-led group rebelled and later learnt that Bhujbal himself had joined the rebels.

“Bhujbal had told me that he does not agree with what was happening and he will go to the meeting and let me know what is happening. So later, I was informed that he has taken the oath (of ministership),” Sharad Pawar further said.

When asked about Sharad Pawar’s claim, Bhujbal said, “That is correct. I got a phone call from him (Sharad Pawar); he asked me what was happening. I told him that I will go and check. But that does not mean I was not aware.”

“He does not tell us when he resigns, he does not tell us when he rescinds it or when he talks with Delhi, then why should I tell him? When I went there (to the Ajit Pawar-led meeting of NCP MLAs), 40-45 MLAs were present. What will I do by staying out?” Bhujbal quipped.
