BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has predicted that Maharashtra will witness another political upheaval in the coming days as he indicated that the party will get into ”import mode” with full gusto from this month.
“I have been given the responsibility of roping in big political leaders into the party. Devendra Fadnavis and I have been told by the party leadership to start recruiting leaders from other parties from this month onwards. Therefore, in the coming days the state will witness a political upheaval,” Bawankule said at a meeting of the BJP’s ‘Super Warriors’ in Pune on Saturday.
Stater Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, MP Prakash Javadekar, BJP’s women’s wing national vice-president Medha Kulkarni, the party’s Pune city chief Dheeraj Ghate, MLAs Siddharth Shirole and Sunil Kamble were among those present.
Meanwhile, speculation has been rife that the BJP has been eyeing senior Congress leader and former chief minister Ashok Chavan with the intention of getting him to join the party. Chavan has, however, denied that he has any such plan.
Last month, the BJP’s Nanded MP Prataprao Chikhalikar had openly predicted that Chavan would soon join the saffron party. “When our party president Bawankule was in Nanded, he told party workers that several top leaders from other parties will join the BJP. I think Ashok Chavan will also join,” Chikhalikar had said.
According to Bawankule, the party has directed them to get seasoned politicians from other parties to join the BJP. “Those who have won elections in 25 years and those who lost elections should be roped into the party and given important tasks. Therefore, in the coming days, there will be many joining the party,” he said.
The party state chief said the ‘Super Warriors’ plan has been launched to ensure that the BJP and the Mahayuti win the maximum number of seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. “Everyone should hold ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with citizens and ensure that your followers increase by the day,” he said.
