With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections nearing, BJP national president JP Nadda on Thursday urged the partymen to become “elements of change” and win the polls only by working on their strength, and not on others’ weaknesses.
While addressing the state executive committee on Thursday, Nadda sought active participation of all the workers for the month-long Jan Sampark Abhiyan, to mark nine years of the Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nadda said that the BJP is in power in 15 states, has 303 members in Parliament, 93 members in Rajya Sabha, 1,385 legislators across the country, and over 100 mayors in different cities. “It is a big achievement for the party. It is the people’s confidence in us, and we are very fortunate.”
“BJP has been growing big. I am not worried about election results now. We will continue to grow. The party, however, should not win due to others’ weakness, but only on its strength… We are not going to stop… we will continue to move ahead at the organisational level,” he said, while urging the partymen to increase their strength. “You should strengthen yourself. Become elements of change. And, it will ensure that all the elections are won by the NDA.”
The BJP chief also urged the partymen to pull up their socks for the political tussle with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. “The MVA had put a break on development work in the state. So, it is the state’s loss whenever the Opposition comes to power. The future of Maharashtra is in your hands,” Nadda said, while asking the partymen to work in a way that BJP is in power in the state.
Taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray, he said, “Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray had once said that he will dissolve Shiv Sena, but would never join hands with Congress.” He criticised Congress for “hurting the self-respect of the citizens”, when Rahul Gandhi had commented on Swatantryaveer Sawarkar. “There are some who question BJP in politics, while their leaders are in jail,” he said, hitting out at the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
The BJP chief also said that several political parties have been talking about elevating poverty for years, but BJP stood out and provided many with employment. “No one in the country sleeps hungry now. We have to spread all the achievements of the Modi government to the people,” he said, adding that the country has performed better in controlling inflation, and increased the GDP compared to other developing countries through policies adopted during the Modi rule.
