Defending champion’s Christ Church School,Mumbai, kept their date with destiny by storming into the final of the 25th Maharashtra Anglo-Indian ICSE Inter-School Football tournament for the second straight year. They will meet the 2011 champions,The Bishop’s School,Camp,in the game that will be played at the Jeejeebhoy Ground.

Christ Church, which won in Mumbai last year, looked little tentative at the start, but defended well throughout, before Rayyan Shaikh drew the first blood in the 72nd minute to beat 11-time champions Barnes School Devlali,Nashik,by a 1-0 margin.

The second semifinal saw hosts,The Bishop’s School, take an early lead over Bombay Scottish School,Mahim, through Elton Mendonce before scoring a 2-1 win to book their place in the final.

Mendonce’s eighth minute strike saw Bishop’s,Camp, move ahead early on,but Bombay Scottish defended well before Rishaab Singh’s 28th minute strike leveled the scores.

There was intense play for most part of the first and the second halves before Mendonce again put Bishop’s,Camp, ahead in the 82nd minute. The players slightly veered towards rough play when Glen Hoderey was red carded in the 83rd minute, but there was no time left for Bombay Scottish to take advantage of playing against 10-men,as the final whistle was blown soon after.
