Dilip Band, who retired from government service last year, said,Every time I was transferred I took my family along. Apart from the pain of shifting, the worst time is faced by children who have to change schools and colleges and adjust to a new academic atmosphere. And if an officer is shifted to a small city, the standard of education is not that good there. Life certainly gets disturbed, he said, adding that transfers in a government job are an unavoidable headache. Band faced two sudden transfers. Just when you are settled in the job,you get a transfer order. This affects your momentum of work. It affects the place or the city where your are working. The work pace gets slowed down….This job indeed throws up several challenges and I had learnt to accept them. You have to mentally prepare yourself to face any situation, said Band.
