The state Inspectorate-General of Registrations and Stamps has recorded a 61 per cent rise in e-registrations of properties in the state. Pune bagged the second place following Thane in maximum registrations.
According to statistics provided by the Inspectorate General of Registration and Stamps, the state has had 1.36 lakh e-registrations in the state. Thane had a 72 per cent registration with 47,412 e-registrations, followed by Pune’s 64 per cent with 42,707 registrations and Mumbai’s 53 per cent registrations with 46,279 registrations.

“Pune has come second after Thane. It was only 11 per cent last year and there has been 64 per cent rise of e-registrations this year,” stated an official from the IGR.
The office of State Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps (IGR) has planned elaborate steps to increase e-registrations and aimed to scale it up by 50 per cent. The registrations have surpassed it by touching 60 per cent this year.
Officials said that citizens are finding the e-registration process easy as they don’t have to visit the Sub Registrar Office. They added while it has picked up in Pune, they want the same to happen in other key cities too.
In e-registration, citizens can prepare their documents online using online templates provided by the department and make payment of stamp duties and registration fees online. Admission and identification of parties is done automatically by comparing Unique Identification Number (UID) details.
The department has appointed 80 authorised service providers for e-registrations besides 150 maha-e-seva kendras to facilitate online registration of documents.
The department had also involved many key builders for e-registration for the first agreements of sale between developers and buyers.
