Air India has temporarily suspended its Pune-Singapore flight route that was operating seven times a week till July 15. This cancellation comes as the airline announced temporary cuts of less than 5 per cent to its overall narrowbody network.
Pune-Singapore is one of the affected as Air India suspended services on three routes and reduced frequency on 19 routes, the airline announced in a statement on June 22. Air India said that these changes were aimed at strengthening ‘operational stability and minimising last-minute inconvenience to passengers.’
The other two routes suspended are Bengaluru-Singapore and Mumbai-Bagdogra, both of which previously operated daily. Frequencies have been reduced on 19 major domestic and short-haul international routes, including Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Goa, Mumbai-Kolkata, and Mumbai-Bengaluru. As of now, the changes are effective until at least July 15, 2025.
Air India clarified that the move is a voluntary one, aimed at ensuring network-wide operational stability while avoiding last-minute cancellations. Passengers affected by these changes are being contacted and offered rescheduling options or full refunds.
Expressing frustration with the cancellation of the Pune-Singapore route, Industrialist Sudhir Mehta wrote on X, “The direct @airindia flight between #Pune & #Singapore as of now seems to be discontinued after 1st July. This will be a huge blow to international air connectivity from Pune which is already very limited. Request @mohol_murlidhar ji to intervene on behalf of our city to restore this important connection.”
