75-yr-old man murdered at Khadki, killer held

A 75-year-old man was murdered on Saturday around 10.30 pm, following a petty dispute over sleeping on the footpath of the road going towards Khadki railway station in Pune.

Police said the deceased — Mangesh Bhagaji Bhadrike (75) — lived on the footpath near Khadki railway station. Police sub inspector Anna Gunjal lodged the FIR in this case at Khadki police station.

Police have arrested the assailant Vikas Ramchandra Gaikwad (52). Inspector Mansingh Patil, the investigation officer, said both Bhadrike and Gaikwad would sleep on the footpath in Khadki area, and worked petty jobs for their livelihood.

“The deceased Bhadrike was a painter. That day he and Gaikwad quarreled over the sleeping place on the footpath. When Bhadrike fell asleep, Gaikwad, in a state of inebriation, attacked him with a sharp object, causing his death,” said inspector Patil.
