The Dharavi police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly raping a woman,26,at her residence Wednesday morning. The accused was allegedly harassing the victim for the past four days. Police have also arrested his aide in the act.
The accused have been identified as Amirullah Khan and Rajesh Lodhi,20,police said. Both are residents of Prem Nagar area. The duo was stalking the woman for the last four days,police added. They used to pass lewd remarks the moment the woman stepped out of her house.
The victims son was sleeping in the next room at the time of the incident. Around 2 am Tuesday,Khan sneaked into the womans house. While her husband was out,her son was asleep. Khan forced himself on the woman. Meanwhile,Lodhi waited outside the house and kept a watch, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhananjay Kulkarni,Zone V.
Khan and Lodhi fled the scene after the incident. The victim approached the police an hour later. Following this,she was taken to the Nagpada Police Hospital,where medical tests were conducted and her statement was recorded.
She told the police that the duo harassed her for a few days before the rape.
The accused were nabbed early Wednesday morning. They have been charged with rape and criminal trespass, Kulkarni added.
Police are also investigating if the duo have harassed other women in the locality in the past.
