Woman alleges rape, acid attack threat

The woman had, on July 1, tried to burn herself by pouring kerosene but hearing her children cry, she did not light the match, the letter said. The police said, as per complaint, she has alleged that the man had been calling her many times in a day and threatening to target her and her sister.

According to Meghwadi police, the victim had filed a written complaint in which she mentioned that she used to work at a Malad based mall where she was introduced to the accused Aziz Shaikh via his younger brother Sahil who worked with her. The couple then exchanged mobile numbers and social network website IDs, but when Aziz began sending her messages like “I love you” etc, she stopped all communication with him. Irritated by the victim’s ignoring him, Aziz began threatening her.

He said he would target her sister and throw acid on her if she came to meet him. “Once he even followed her elder sister when she was returning home, he called up the victim and told her that he was following her sister and he is going to throw acid on her and if she wanted to stop this she had to come to a Gorai lodge where he raped her,” said a police officer.

The victim told the police that she changed her mobile phone and residence address in Meghwadi, where she was staying with her sister. She went to Thane along with her two children. But Aziz got her new number and blackmailed her with a video clip which he said he had filmed in Gorai. He said he would post the same on the internet, and called her to a Thane lodge where he raped her again, said the police.
The Meghwadi police filed an FIR under section section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and have handed over the case to the Gorai police.

“We have begun a manhunt for Aziz. The woman has been sent for a medical examination,” said PSI S Sawant, Gorai police.
