As many as 200 investors have so far approached the law enforcement agency alleging that Dalal has defrauded them of more than Rs 100 crore. However, more victims may approach the police.

Dalal was first booked for allegedly cheating dozens of investors to the tune of Rs 54 crore based on a complaint lodged by Juhu-based fashion designer. Later, other complainants came up.

Dalal’s son was interrogated multiple times by the police after the case was registered under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 409 (criminal breach of trust) along with sections of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors Act.

Celebrities have also lost money to Dalal and actor Annu Kapoor’s family is also among them. The actor’s family has been investing money with Dalal since past few years. Even though, the family got promised profit regularly, of late, the cash flow was halted. Dalal later evaded investors saying his wife had been hospitalised.

Dalal used to live in Kapoor’s building and the actor told The Indian Express, “My family is not the only one but there are many victims, including senior citizens investing their life savings. It is very sad.”
