Actor Salman Khan has received fresh threats from a person claiming to be from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s group, a day after the police arrested a man from Karnataka who allegedly issued a fake death threat to the Bollywood star. The latest message demanding Rs 5 crore also conveyed a death threat to a songwriter who wrote a song that allegedly had references to Khan and Bishnoi.

The threat message in Hindi sent to Mumbai police’s traffic control room on Thursday said that they would “finish the boy”, who has penned the song, in a month. It read: ‘We will spare Salman Khan if he gives Rs 5 crore. But won’t spare whoever has written a song on Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We will kill him… Whoever helps Salman Khan won’t be spared. Whoever has written the song, we will teach him such a lesson that he won’t be able to write even his own name. Salman Khan, save him if you can… Lawrence Bishnoi gang”.

The mobile number used in sending the message had the name ‘Vishnumurthy Aliya Friend’ written in Kannada on True Caller, said an officer.

Though the sender posed as a member of Bishnoi gang, the police suspect that the person could be an ordinary individual trying to exploit Bishnoi gang’s name to attract media attention.

The Worli police in Mumbai have registered a case and are trying to locate the offender, said a police officer.

The Bollywood star, who has been on the hit list of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi over a blackbuck poaching case from 1998, has been getting numerous threats directly or indirectly via Mumbai police since the past few months.

A Bishnoi gang member had also opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra home in April and Lawrence’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bishnoi is currently lodged in a prison in Gujarat.

Later, the Mumbai police arrested over a dozen Bishnoi gang members and also slapped MCOCA against them.

On Wednesday, the police arrested a Rajasthan native from Karnataka’s Hubbali for contacting the helpline number of the Mumbai traffic control room on Tuesday in the guise of the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi. The man gave the actor two options to stay alive to either apologise at a temple or pay Rs 5 crore.

Early this week, the Mumbai police also received a death threat for actor Shah Rukh Khan.

The caller demanded Rs 50 lakh or else he threatened to kill Shah Rukh. When Mumbai police traced the number, it turned out to be that of an advocate from Raipur, who claimed that his phone was stolen on November 2.
