Terming the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) decision to award Shiv Sena party name and Bow and Arrow symbol to Eknath Shinde’s Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena as “dangerous for Indian democracy”, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday announced that his party will approach the Supreme Court against the move.

A visibly upset Thackeray said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should now officially announce the beginning of dictatorship and end of democracy in India.

Terming Shinde group as a bunch of thugs, Thackeray said that thugs can enjoy for a day but ultimately the truth shall prevail.

“If anyone thinks that the Shiv Sena is over, then it is doing nothing but daydreaming. The people of Maharashtra will avenge this. The common people will be Shiv Sena now,” he said, asking party workers to not get disheartened.

“The EC has played a farce. They asked for so many documents and we compiled and provided all of them…Why put up this farce?” he asked.
