State Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday said that coming together of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray will lead to increase in the number of seats for the Opposition in the upcoming civic polls especially for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

He, however, claimed that Mahayuti alliance will not be impacted by this and will emerge victorious in the civic polls.

“I have known both of them (Raj and Uddhav) since their childhood. I don’t think anyone will have any problem if the brothers Raj and Dadu (Uddhav) come together. Rather, coming together of both the leaders would mean old Shiv Sena coming together,” said Bhujbal.

The NCP leader started his political career from Shiv Sena and was one of the closest aides of Sena founder late Bal Thackeray. Bhujbal later joined the Congress and moved to NCP when Sharad Pawar founded the party.

Bhujbal said, “It is definite that both Thackerays coming together will impact, especially the elections in Mumbai. Their seats will increase for sure.”

He, however, added that it will not impact the ruling Mahayuti alliance of which NCP is a constituent.

“Irrespective of this (both Thackerays joining hands), the Mahayuti will have the highest number of seats,” he said.
