Two college students allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 18th floor of a building in Virar area on Monday night. The police said the reason is still not clear and they have not yet found any suicide note till now either from their residences or from the incident spot.

The deceased, identified as Aditya Ramsingh, 21, a resident of Nalasopara (east) and Sham Ghorai, 20, from Nalasopara (west), were old friends and final-year students of Bachelor of Management Studies. Singh’s father is into garment business while Ghorai’s father works in a jewellery making unit. Both the families are in shock and they are not even aware of the exact reason.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 10 pm on Monday when both went into an under-construction building situated in the Tulinj area and allegedly jumped from there. The incident came to light after the security guard of the building heard a loud thud and rushed to the spot. The guard found both the boys lying in a pool of blood. The police were informed about the incident.

The police identified the deceased based on the bike’s registration number and informed their parents. Police conducted a Panchnama and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The accident death report (ADR) has been registered.

“We have been enquiring with the deceased’s friends and also checking their mobile phones to find the clue. It is also shocking for us why both the youngsters took such drastic steps together. We will investigate the incident from all possible angles,” said deputy commissioner of police Suhas Bawache.
