A Thane policeman allegedly attempted suicide following a fight with his wife over formatting her mobile phone.

As per the police, the constable took his wife’s phone to a mobile repair shop after it stopped working on Sunday night. When the constable came back home and returned the phone to his wife, she realised that all the data on her phone had been wiped off during the repair. She got upset over this, and the couple got into a fight.

“In the heat of the moment, the constable attempted suicide. He started feeling nauseous and unwell, following which he went to the Thane Civil hospital,” a police officer said.

The constable was given treatment at the Civil Hospital and was soon out of danger. The Civil Hospital then contacted the local police, which sent an officer to record the constable’s statement.

A senior official said, “The couple did fight frequently, and this time the constable got agitated. We have counselled him and will also get the couple professional help if necessary.”
