A 46-year-old doctor, who used to practice at KEM hospital, has allegedly ended his life by hanging himself in his house at Thane.

The Chitalsar police, which has registered a case of accidental death report, identified the doctor as Dr Pavan Laxman Sable. The incident came to light on Friday morning, when Sable’s driver came home to pick him up.

Senior Inspector Girish Gode of Chitalsar police station said, “Sable was addicted to alcohol, due to which his wife had left him with their children around 15 days ago. She was staying with her mother nearby. On Friday, when nobody responded to the doorbell, the driver contacted her.”

As she opened the door, they found Sable hanging from a ceiling fan. He was declared brought dead at a hospital. “We have found a suicide note in which he has said he was giving away his property to his wife,” said Gode.

The police said Sable had resigned from his services at KEM hospital and his resignation was accepted on Thursday. “We suspect he ended his life on Thursday night,” said Gode.
