Thackeray slams SRK for plan to join Pak TV fete as nation recalls 26/11

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has said that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan had to be taught a lesson for apparently planning to appear on a Pakistan TV show while the country was paying tribute to the 26/11 martyrs and victims.

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has said that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan had to be taught a lesson for apparently planning to appear on a Pakistan TV show while the country was paying tribute to the 26/11 martyrs and victims.

Thackeray had earlier lashed out against Khan for his support to Pakistani players in the IPL,following which Shiv Sainiks had launched an agitation.

“Shah Rukh Khan, under the shelter of Sonia Gandhi,is exhibiting his love for Pakistan. He lives in India, eats here, earns here, constructs a palace on Mumbai shores and roams across the globe as an Indian filmstar, but praises Pakistan at every possible opportunity. Even now,he is in London to participate in the Pakistan TV channel’s celebrations. On a day when our country is paying homage to the victims and martyrs of the 26/11 attack,Khan’s participation in a dance show is an insult to the memory of the 26/11 victims and martyrdom,” Thackeray wrote in party mouthpiece Saamna on Friday.

He said Shiv Sainiks who speak against Khan would be counted as culprits and cases filed against them, but urged that Khan should be taught a lesson, which would be a fitting tribute to 26/11 martyrs.

He also criticised state Home Minister RR Patil and Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse for their recent visit to the Arthur Road Jail where they interacted with 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab. “Home Minister RR Patil visited the jail and inquired about Kasab’s wellbeing. It is an insult to 26/11 martyrs that the Home Minister should visit the jail and meet Kasab. There was no need to meet Kasab and visit the jail. Patil should clarify if he was asked to visit the jail to check on Kasab’s wellbeing.”
