The wealth of 35 Lok Sabha MPs from Maharashtra who are seeking re-election has collectively gone up by 168 per cent, from Rs 324.67 crore to Rs 823 crore, in the past five years.
An analysis of their wealth declaration shows that assets of eight MPs who are contesting again have increased by over 500 per cent in the past five years.
Topping the list is Shiv Sena MP from Aurangabad Chandrakant Khaire, whose wealth has shot up by a whopping 1091 per cent in the past five years, from Rs 1.41 crore to Rs 16.8 crore.
Khaire is followed by Palghar MP Baliram Sukhur, whose wealth increased by 900 per cent, from 0.24 crore to Rs 2.04 crore.
NCP MP from Satara Udayan Raje Bhosale has seen his wealth increase by 828 per cent, from 11.72 crore to Rs 108.77 crore.
Hingoli MP Subhash Wankhede of the Shiv Sena has seen his wealth grow by 778 per cent, from Rs 0.33 crore to Rs 2.90 crore.
Congress MP from Mumbai South Central Eknath Gaiwkad has seen his wealth grow by 737 per cent, from Rs 0.29 crore to Rs 2.43 crore.
The five richest MPs seeking re-election are NCP MP from Bhandara-Gondiya Praful Patel, with assets of Rs 217.78 crore as against Rs 125.46 crore five years back, NCP’s Baramati MP Supriya Sule, who has a declared wealth of Rs 113.47 crore as against Rs 50.44 crore declared five years back, NCP’s Satara MP Udayan Raje Bhosale, who now has a personal wealth of Rs 108.77 crore as against Rs 11.72 crore in 2009, Congress MP from Mumbai North Central Priya Dutt, whose wealth grew from Rs 31.76 crore to Rs 60.30 crore and Congress MP from Mumbai North West Gurudas Kamath, who is now worth Rs 49.06 crore as against Rs 6.38 crore in 2009.
