Speech, hearing impaired woman allegedly sexually harassed by supervisor

The police have invoked relevant IPC sections and of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and Information Technology Act. A search has been launched for the accused the police said.

A 24-year-old woman, who is hearing and speech impaired, was allegedly sexually abused by the supervisor of the organisation she works for over a period of eight months by sending her lewd messages and videos and making unwelcome advances.

An FIR was registered at Warje Malwadi police station in Pune on Monday based on the complaint filed by the woman alleging the supervisor sexually harassed her from January till August this year. The FIR says the accused sent the victim obscene text messages and videos, and made sexually explicit overtures and touching her inappropriately when she was alone in the office. The police have invoked relevant IPC sections and of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and Information Technology Act. A search has been launched for the accused the police said.
