The Central Railway will carry out a special midnight traffic block on sections of the Harbour and Trans Harbour suburban rail networks this weekend to facilitate major upgrade and repair works. The closure, scheduled for the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, is aimed at commissioning an advanced Electronic Interlocking System at Vashi station and casting a slab for a road overbridge on the Trans Harbour corridor, officials said.

According to the Central Railway, the block on the Harbour Line will be in effect at Vashi station from 12.45 am to 10.45 am on Sunday. On the Trans Harbour Line, services between Thane and Turbhe will be suspended from 12.30 am to 05.30 am on the same day. Several suburban trains will be short-terminated or short-originated during the block period.

On Saturday night, Belapur to CSMT local at 11.16 pm will terminate at Vadala Road. Panvel to CSMT services at 10.35 pm, 10.58 pm, and 11.13 pm will also end at Vadala Road, while services at 10.46 pm and Panvel to Vadala Road at 11.36 pm will terminate at Belapur.

On Sunday morning, some services will originate from Nerul, Vashi, or Belapur instead of their regular starting stations. These include the CSMT to Panvel local at 10.52 am from Nerul, Belapur to CSMT at 10.40 am and Panvel to Vadala Road at 11.28 am from Vashi, and Panvel to CSMT locals at 10.49 am and 11.16 am, and Panvel to Vadala Road at 12.49 am from Belapur.

Down Harbour services from CSMT, between 11.52 pm on Saturday and 10.03 am on Sunday, will remain cancelled. Up Harbour services from Panvel between 4.03 am and 10.17 am on Sunday will also remain cancelled.

The first Down local train after the block will be CSMT to Panvel at 10.10 am. The first Up local after the block will be Vashi to CSMT at 10.55 am and Panvel to CSMT at 10.33 am. Special trains between CSMT and Mankhurd will operate during the block to cater to commuters.

“These maintenance mega blocks are essential to ensure network safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of our infrastructure,” a spokesperson for the Central Railway said. “We request passengers to bear with us for the temporary inconvenience.”
