‘Smart City Project 2016’ award for Bhendi Bazaar redevelopment plan

The ambitious Bhendi Bazaar redevelopment project, the first cluster redevelopment project to take off in Mumbai, received the ‘Smart City Project 2016’ award during a conclave on smart cities supported by the Centre. More than 22 smart-city projects were vying for the award during the conclave, organised by the Exhibition India group from May 11 to May 13. Projects such as the GIFT City in Gujarat, DLF 5 in Gurgaon and Blue Ridge in Hinjewadi, Pune were among the projects shortlisted for the award besides the Bhendi Bazaar revamp, said a spokesperson from the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust, which is implementing the Bhendi Bazaar project.
