Mohammed Shariful Fakir, 30, the Bangladeshi national arrested for attacking actor Saif Ali Khan on January 16 at his Mumbai residence during a failed robbery attempt, allegedly told the police during interrogation that while he was escaping from Bandra to Worli after the crime, he bought headphones for Rs 50 from outside Dadar railway station as he wanted to “release pressure” by listening to songs.

Fakir allegedly made this revelation before the police while he was being questioned in the presence of witnesses, whose statements have been included in the 1,612-page chargesheet recently filed by the Bandra police.

Fakir was allegedly caught on CCTV while purchasing headphones in Dadar. He then went to Worli village and, from there, to Thane, the police said. Later, the police traced him to Thane on January 19, where he was allegedly hiding in a ridge gourd field behind Thane Labour camp.

The police had found it difficult to track Fakir’s movements as he was allegedly switching off his phone regularly. In his interrogation in front of witnesses, he allegedly told the police that he was switching off his phone regularly, fearing the same.

The Bandra police said they have filed a strong chargesheet against Fakir, attaching evidence like CCTV footage, fingerprint reports, DNA test reports, technical evidence, etc.
