Ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha 2024 elections, the top brass of BJP in the state and RSS held a marathon six-hour meeting at Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Nagpur, Monday. Officially both sides said it was a routine meeting to ensure greater coordination on important matters. However, insiders in BJP said, “The party which has set an ambitious target of 45 plus of the total 48 LS seats, and reckons it will require absolute support of the RSS work force.”
BJP was represented by state party president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. RSS Vidarbha region incharge and others attended the meet. BJP sources said the purpose was “to discuss the challenges in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Especially in Vidarbha which has 10 Lok Sabha seats and 62 Assembly constituencies.”
Maharashtra with 48 Lok Sabha seats is a crucial state to win, after Uttar Pradesh, which at 80 has the largest number of seats. This time BJP has raised the slogan ‘abki baar 400 paar’. (This time more than 400). The state unit believes Maharashtra will have to deliver 100 per cent, and so they have set a target of over 45 seats.
For Congress Vidarbha is the main focus, to counter which BJP has strengthened its campaign to ensure outreach to every voter in Vidarbha, which has 10 seats.
