Seaplane service operator Mehair has suspended its air service between Nashik and Pune. The company said it “was constrained to temporarily hold back the service from next week due to factors beyond its control.”

In a press release, the company said, “Limited watch hours and the high charges of operating out of Nashik airport are affecting the viability of the operation… A nine-seater aircraft is simply incapable of working under a high cost structure for Watch extension from any airport as the market will simply reject a high value ticket at the very beginning of the operation.”

Mehair said the availability of normal ATC Watch till 14.30 hours and extension only till 16.30 hours with high charges is making it difficult to adhere to the announced schedule of two flights to Pune per day.

The company is not closing down the operation but this is only a temporary suspension for about a month or so to provide time to address and resolve the hurdles hampering operations.
