The Mumbai police Monday said they have started a probe against popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for his ‘controversial jokes’ at the India’s Got Latent show hosted by another popular YouTuber Samay Raina.

Allahbadia, known for his channel BeerBiceps, made the remarks during a recent episode of the show where he was present as a guest along with other popular content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija.

Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 9, Mumbai police, said, “An inquiry is going on (in the matter).”

Sources said a police team Monday afternoon also reached Khar’s Habitat building, where the show’s shoot was conducted.

Following the controversial comment, two Mumbai lawyers, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, submitted a written complaint to the Mumbai police Monday morning claiming obscene comments were made against parents, women, and their body parts.

“Police should register an FIR against the organiser, the online platform, the artists, and others concerned and thoroughly investigate the matter,” advocate Rai said.

Although the police are probing the matter, they have not registered an FIR yet.
