PM Modi targets Rahul Gandhi: ‘Congress shehzada will flee from Wayanad like he did in Amethi’

Addressing a rally in Maharashtra ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls for BJP candidate Prataprao Patil-Chikhlikar (Nanded) and Shinde Sena’s Baburao Kohlikar (Hingoli), PM Narendra Modi said the voters have rejected the INDIA bloc.

Throwing a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the ‘shehzada’ is waiting for the poll to get over in Wayanad, where he is contesting, to find another safe seat and added that he will run away from Kerala like he did in Amethi.

“Congress’s shehzada is facing trouble in Wayanad. Shehzada and his gang are awaiting voting in Wayanad and after that they will announce a safe seat for him. The Kerala CM has slammed him in a language which even I do not use. The manner in which he has run away from Amethi, he will quit Wayanad as well,” said PM Modi. He was addressing an election rally in Maharashtra’s Nanded Lok Sabha seat for BJP candidate Prataprao Patil-Chikhlikar and Shinde Sena’s Baburao Kohlikar in Hingoli.

PM Modi said that a win for the Mahayuti’s two candidates will eventually strengthen him. “I want each of you (crowd) to do one thing for me. Go to every home and extend greetings to them on my behalf,” he said, asserting that the ruling side is contesting the ongoing election on his face and popularity only.

“The INDI alliance members who come forward to save themselves have been rejected by voters as they are not able to finalise their leader yet. The voter is asking them for their leader but they cannot answer. Even before the elections, the Congress has accepted defeat,” he said.

“It is evident from the fact that those (from the Opposition) who used to contest and win elections have chosen the Rajya Sabha route. INDI alliance is not getting candidates and it is not campaigning. On 25 per cent of the seats, the INDI alliance is fighting against each other, raising allegations against each other and threatening to put each other in jail. Can you trust such people,” he asked.

Taking a dig at the Congress, PM Modi said, “For the first time after Independence, this family of Congress will not vote for a Congress candidate. Have you thought such a situation would ever happen?” He claimed that no sensible citizen would waste their vote on this alliance.

Slamming the Opposition over boycotting the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, he said, “Curing every wound inflicted by the Congress is Modi ki Guarantee. Article 370, triple talaq, growing economy. A grand temple of Ram Lalla is being built in Ayodhya but INDI alliance is abusing Sanatan, validating the boycott of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple, terming puja in Ram temple as pakhand (hypocrisy) and insulting our aastha (faith). These people cannot be pardoned.”

“Our government has brought the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) for the victims of Partition. Had it not been there, our Sikh brothers and sisters would have suffered. What would have happened to those migrating from Afghanistan? The Congress is opposing it and it seems, the Congress is seeking revenge for 1984,” he said, addressing a sizeable Sikh population in Nanded.

“These 10 years were a trailer. A majority of our time in this period has gone into sorting out the problems created by the Congress. We still have a duty to Marathwada and Maharashtra ahead,” he said.

While claiming that the voters have overwhelmingly voted in the ruling NDA’s favour in the first phase, PM Modi said that he wanted to tell the people to vote at any cost. “Vote for anyone, but do vote. I know there are problems like heat, farm works, family programmes, but look at soldiers who safeguard the border in any weather, a similar emotion should be in the minds of voters, that they safeguard the future of the country.”

“If not today, tomorrow or day after you (Opposition) will also get a chance… That’s why I want to tell the workers of those (parties) whose defeat is certain… to inspire voters to vote. The next 25 years will prove India’s greatness for which the voting percentage should increase,” he said.
