No movement yet on Oval Maidan Virar Elevated Corridor

A meeting between CM Prithviraj Chavan,planning commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia,railway board chairman Vinay Mittal and state government officers Thursday did not help.

While several issues related to the project were raised at the meeting and a “positive outcome” was expected in a fortnight,railway board sources said the state was not interested in the project and might dump it.

They said there was nothing “concrete” and old issues were being raised repeatedly,resulting in delay in signing SSA.

After the visit of former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to the city in April,it was hoped SSA would be soon signed.

Manu Kumar Srivastava,principal secretary in the state urban development department,had sent a letter to Western Railway giving in-principle approval to draft SSA,subject to conditions.

However,FSI,land acquisition,shifting of underground utilities and commercial use of land continue to be debated,said a senior railway official.
