Referring to the audio clips, Malik alleged that the narcotics agency was involved in propping up fake witnesses and furnishing backdated witness documents.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and state cabinet minister Nawab Malik on Sunday objected to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)’s move to appeal against the bail of his son-In-law Sameer Khan, who was earlier arrested by NCB in an alleged drug case.

Malik also released two audio clips of a conversation between a person called Maddy, an alleged witness (panch) and an alleged NCB official wherein, the witness in an old case is being asked to sign “backdated” documents again.

Malik questioned why only his son-in-law Sameer Khan was being singled out. “The main accused in the drug case is Karan Sajnani. However, they have gone to the High Court to cancel the bail of only Sameer Khan, is it just because he is my son-in-law? They are trying to scare me off. But I will not get scared and will keep exposing their wrongdoings,” Malik said in a press conference on Sunday.

Deputy DG NCB Sanjay Singh, who is heading the SIT that is now probing the Nawab Malik son-in-law case said, “We will be filing appeals against others arrested in the case as well.”

Claiming that these two audio clips clearly show how the witness in an old case is being asked to sign panchnama documents again, Malik also questioned what action did the vigilance commission set up to look into the Aryan Khan case took so far.

An NCB official, however, said that while filing a chargesheet, an agency has to record the statement of a panch (witness). Hence, they had summoned the panch (witness) to record their statements.

“We earlier have exposed the wrongdoings of NCB and how fake cases were made by NCB… An SIT of vigilance was formed by NCB to investigate the matter. However, to date, the wrongdoings of the agency have not stopped. What has the vigilance team of NCB done till now?” Malik alleged. An NCB source said that the vigilance enquiry is still underway.
