Uddhav joined hands with people who Balasaheb spent his life fighting: Nadda

Calling the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance unnatural, he added, “It has been given an apt reply, as there is no MVA government in Maharashtra now, but it is the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis-led government that is driving Maharashtra toward development.”

Alleging that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray “backstabbed” the BJP, party national president J P Nadda on Monday said that Thackeray, for his “greed” for power, joined hands with those late Balasaheb Thackeray spent his life fighting.

During a day-long visit to Maharashtra, Nadda addressed a public rally in Chandrapur in the afternoon and another rally in Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) in the evening. “In Maharashtra, power-hungry Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav, for the greed of the chief minister’s chair, joined hands with people who late Balasaheb Thackeray spent his entire life, fighting. This is what they brought on Maharashtra. Should these people be forgiven?” Nadda said in Chandrapur.

Nadda further said, “Then Shiv Sena led by Uddhav, shared the stage with us and agreed with us when we spoke about ‘Narendra in Delhi and Devendra in Maharashtra’. When (poll) results came… they began to eye the CM’s chair. They stabbed us in the back. But in politics, power rests only with those who speak the truth. An unnatural alliance is unnatural. It does not last long.”

He alleged that the Shiv Sena (UBT) parted with its ideology to form the government and cancelled Ganesh Utsav and Dahi Handi programmes in the state. “They hurt the emotions and aspirations of Maharashtra, which has been so closely tied with the culture of India. And then they joined hands with people who have refused to understand the culture of India.”

Comparing BJP and MVA governments in the state, Nadda said, “We both have a JAM. BJP’s is ‘Jandhan, Aadhar and Mobile’, and we are bringing a digital revolution. For them, it is ‘jointly acquiring money’. We both have DBT also. BJP’s is ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’, MVA’s is ‘Dealership, Brokerage, and Transfer’.”

He also targeted Thackeray over the incident of alleged lynching of three persons in Palghar district in April 2020. “Uddhav, the son of Hindu Samrat (Sena founder Bal Thackeray), took a step back” by not handing over the probe into the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation under pressure from the Congress and NCP, Nadda said.

Attacking MVA former ministers Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh, he added, “One former minister is out on bail after being in jail for one year. Another former minister is still in jail.”

He reiterated his statements at the rally in Sambhajinagar. Before the rally, Nadda visited the Mahakali Temple and the Sayyed Behbatullah Shah Dargah in Chandrapur.
