Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai today to address the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum at the event. The forum will serve as a platform for discussions on sustainable maritime growth, resilient supply chains, green shipping, and inclusive blue economy strategies. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated India Maritime Week on Monday.
Here’s what the Mumbai Traffic Police has put out in its update
What are the timings?
The movement of heavy motor vehicles on both northbound and southbound lanes of the Western Express Highway will be restricted between 2 pm and 9 pm in view of VVIP movement.
Which roads to avoid?
Police said several VVIPs and protected persons are expected to attend the event, and the restrictions are meant to ensure security and ease traffic congestion. The curbs will be in place from Vakola Flyover to Dahisar Toll Naka.
A few exemptions
1. Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines, and police vehicles are exempt from the restrictions.
2. Vehicles deployed for VIP security and those operated by the Traffic Police for official purposes will also be allowed to move, officials said.
3. Vehicles permitted by the traffic police for operational necessity will also be allowed to ply.
The traffic police have urged motorists to cooperate and follow diversion instructions to ensure smooth movement along the highway.
