A fourth Vande Bharat train from Mumbai will start operations on Saturday. It will run between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station on all days except Fridays, a senior railway official said.

The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train will have 10 stations on its route, namely CSMT, Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Thivim and Madgaon.

The new semi-high-speed train will cover the distance of 586 km in almost eight hours. The Tejas Express, between CSMT and Madgaon, takes over eight hours and 20 minutes.

The Vande Bharat train is likely to start from the CSMT station at 5.25 am and reach Madgaon by 1.15 pm. On Friday the train will undergo maintenance.

The train’s first trial run was held on May 17, when it started from platform number 7 of the CSMT at 5.30 am and reached the Madgaon station at 12.50 pm.

Officials say this Vande Bharat train will also have good occupancy as the route sees heavy rush throughout the year owing to Goa being a tourist place.

Forty pairs of trains now run on the Konkan Railway route daily. From Mumbai already three Vande Bharat trains are operational—Mumbai to Shirdi, Mumbai to Solapur and Mumbai to Gandhinagar. These three trains have 70 per cent occupancy. The upcoming Mumbai-Goa train will be the fourth Vande Bharat express train from Mumbai.
