Three persons were arrested and a juvenile detained by the Manpada police on Tuesday and Wednesday for allegedly killing a 48-year-old engineer after robbing him in Dombivali on September 11. The body of Krishna Mohan Tiwari was dumped in Kalyan.

The three men who have been arrested have been identified as Rehan Sheikh, Sagar Ponal and Sumeet Sonawane.

A resident of Dombivli, Tiwari used to work in Dubai. He had returned to India after he lost his job a couple months ago and had approached a placement agency for work. The police said that Rehan Shaikh worked in a placement agency and had access to the data of those looking for jobs. He allegedly offered Tiwari a job and called him for a meeting at Diva station. The police said that when Tiwari reached the station, the four accused attacked him and robbed him of everything he had.

Tiwari, however, tried to resist and a scuffle ensued. “He was then thrown in Katamanivli in an injured state. At night, he was spotted by a policeman on patrol and rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries,” an officer said.

“The accused were identified and arrested with the help of technical evidence. An FIR of murder and robbery has been registered,” the officer added.
