The families of Sayed Hussain and Salim Saboonwala, who died in the car crash involving lawyer Jahnvi Gadkar last week, have demanded that the Bar Council of India revoke Gadkar’s license to practise as she had opted to drink and drive despite being well aware of the laws.

Backing them, Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam said that Reliance Industries should also ask Gadkar to quit as vice-president of its legal branch.

Nilofer, Hussain’s daughter, said her family would attempt to get the strictest punishment for Gadkar. “We will ensure that she is charged for murder. This was no accident,” Nilofer said.

Nouman Saboonwala (17), Salim’s son, said his father was the sole earner in the family.

“I have two sisters and I am still studying. The lawyer was driving on the wrong side of the freeway and despite the attempts, the crash could not be avoided. She is entirely responsible for my father’s death,” Nouman said.
