THE X-ray reports of the 26 goats smuggled on board MSV Yusufi have shown no foreign object in any of the animal. The goats,all considered to be rare and exotic,were being smuggled by a breeder named Usmani on April 3.
The reports have come and we havent found anything. We will now approach the centres quarantine department through the local court as we cannot keep custody of the goats, said Additional Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash,(Central Region).
BMC,meanwhile,has declined taking charge fearing cattle disease.
On the parallel investigation on the Thuraya sets which were dumped by the crew in the sea,police will now take the information from Coast Guard as the recorded location. We cannot place the location by ourselves as it was in open sea. We have decided to take the information of the Coast Guard on that aspect, confirmed Prakash.
A dhow on its way from Dubai and suspected to be involved in spurious transaction was intercepted on the night of April 3,15 km off south-west of Colaba shores by the Indian Coast Guard.
MSV Yusufi had left the shores of Dubai on March 28 with 450 cartons of cigarettes,28 goats,two television sets and one tablet,according to Coast Guard officials.
The goats were sent to the Parel Veterinary Hospital last Wednesday.
