Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant and a 10-member delegation will be attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, where they are expected to sign 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) intended to attract investment of Rs 2.5 lakh crore in state.
This will be the CM’s second visit to Davos, wherein this time he is leading a 10-member delegation including senior officials from Industries Department, MIDC and CM’s secretariat. Eight officials from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology will also be attending the conference independently.
Speaking about Davos, State Industries Minister Uday Samant said the government expects to sign MoUs worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore. These investments are expected in various cities of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Jalna and Raigad.
Last year, the state government had signed MoUs of Rs 1.37 lakh crore during the conference, of which 83 per cent MoUs have materialised on the ground, officials said.
While speaking on accountability of MoUs being signed, Samant said, “Our Government is most accountable and transparent. We will give full details of the money spent and money raised in Davos. We had signed an MoU worth Rs 1,37,000 crore in the WEF held last year.”
