A day after actor Raza Murad took an apparent jibe at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying wearing a skull cap did not corrupt one’s religion,a war of words broke out between the NCP and BJP,with the latter saying the actor had no business passing such remarks.

Sharing dais with Shivraj Singh Chouhan to mark Eid celebrations on Friday,Murad had praised the Madhya Pradesh CM for sporting a skull cap and gone on to remark that doing so did not “corrupt one’s religion”.

“We all agree with Raja Muradji that wearing a skull cap does not corrupt one’s religion. But we would like to know how singing Vande Matram affects one’s religion,” Vinod Tawde,Leader of the Opposition in state Legislative Council, said.

NCP’s chief spokesperson Nawab Mullik too joined in,saying the two issues could not be equated. “How can the BJP leadership raise the issue of Vande Mataram? The issue has been debated at the Centre and everybody knows why there are reservations in some quarters.”
