The Kalachowkie police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old salesman for sending obscene messages to a woman after she spurned his advances. The woman, who was in relationship with the accused, had broken up with him after she learnt that he was already married.
Unwilling to let the woman go,the accused first tried to convince her and after she refused he began sending her lewd SMSes. The woman had approached the police and shown them the SMSes as proof following which a complaint was registered.
According to a police official from the Kalachowkie police station, the accused has been booked for cheating, outraging the modesty of a woman and under the IT Act for transmitting information which is obscene in electronic form.
The complainant is a fashion designer-cum-social worker who met the accused,Sumit Shah,a year back. Shah claimed to be a cloth merchant and the couple got into a relationship. However, six months later, the womans family started pressurising her to get married, said a police official.
When the womans family enquired about Shahs background, they learnt that he is married, has a child and was a salesman. The woman then called off the relationship. A fortnight back he had accosted her and tried to forcibly kiss her following which she complained to us, said a police official.
