In Maharashtra, early trends show MVA leading Mahayuti

Emerging trends indicate that the MVA — Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Congress — is giving neck-and-neck competition to the ruling alliance.

The initial trends for 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra shows a close contest with the Mahayuti (the BJP-NCP-Sena alliance) leading in 20 constituencies, while the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is ahead in 26, and Independents are leading in two.

While the counting continues, reports indicate that the BJP is leading in 20 seats and its alliance partners Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in six seats. Meanwhile, the NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar is ahead in one seat.

Emerging trends indicate that the MVA — Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Congress — is giving neck-and-neck competition to the ruling alliance.

The NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar sprung a surprise by leading in at least nine out of the total 10 seats contested. Initial trends indicate that Baramati’s sitting MP Supriya Sule was ahead of Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra by over 8,000 votes as of 11.30 am.

In Vidarbha, BJP’s senior minister Sudhir Mungantiwar is trailing in Chandrapur against the Congress’s Pratibha Dhanorkar. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Chandrpaur was the lone seat that the Congress won.

Despite infighting between the BJP and the Shiv Sena, Shrikant Shinde seems to have taken a decisive lead in Kalyan against Vaishali Darekar of the Shiv Sena(UBT). In Thane, a prestige seat for the CM as it is his hometown, Shiv Sena candidate Naresh Mhaske is ahead of Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajan Vichare.

In Nagpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is seeking election for the third term, is leading by a comfortable 30,542 votes against the Congress’s Vikas Thakre. In Shirur, NCP (SP)’s Amol Kolhe is way ahead of NCP (Ajit Pawar) Adhalrao Patil.
