Head constable suspended for patrolling in drunken state

On November 23, Sarode was given night patrolling duty in a Mobile-1 police vehicle. However, it was found that Sarode was drunk during duty hours. He was “too drunk to even stand straight”, the source added.

Superior officers took his “irresponsible act” very seriously as it was a violation of section 3 of Maharashtra Civil Service rules 1979 (conduct) and the matter was brought to the notice of zonal deputy commissioner of police.

DCP zone 7 on November 25 suspended Sarode and ordered a departmental inquiry. “Such acts damage the reputation of police in public and malign the image of the entire force, hence a stern action was taken,” said a police officer.
